Medical marijuana is officially legal in Missouri, but there are some rules you should know about. Here’s how to keep your cannabis legal.

  1. Keep it Under 8oz

    • A licensed medical marijuana patient can possess up to 8oz of cannabis flower at one time. See the chart below to understand how this translates to extracts and edibles.

  2. Always have Identification

    • As a patient, you need to have your medical marijuana card printed and available any time you have cannabis. We suggest printing a copy for your wallet and another for the box, bag, or shelf where you store and/or transport your cannabis.

  3. Store it Safely

    • Like any other medication, medical marijuana should only be consumed by the patient to whom it was dispensed. As a patient, you are responsible for safely storing all marijuana products away from children, animals, and non-licensed adults. All marijuana should be stored in the childproof containers that it was dispensed in.

  4. Consume in Private

    • While you may legally have cannabis on you in a public space, you may not consume it in public. This includes pieces of private property that are open to the general public such as sidewalks, streets, bridges, parks, schools, and businesses.

  5. Don’t Drive while Intoxicated

    • Operating a car or other heavy machinery while intoxicated is not legal.
