Many people are under the false impression that you can't get “high” the first time you consume cannabis (of course, there is a lot more to cannabis than just getting "high"!).  While this may be accurate for some new consumers, it is not a tried and true fact!

That being said, a new consumer may not get "high" if they are not used to inhaling (if smoking for the first time) or if they are dosing with an amount that is not strong enough to feel an effect (such as when using a tincture).  This is not actually a bad thing!  As we like to suggest, as someone becomes acclimated to cannabis and learns how their own body reacts to it, it is best to start low and go slow to achieve the optimal benefits, which may mean not getting "high" the first few times!
